The Reconnection, LLC, a California limited liability company (“The Reconnection”) owns and operates www.TheReconnection.com (the “Website”). We are committed to safeguarding your privacy online. To better protect your privacy, we provide this notice explaining our online information practices.
At The Reconnection, we have a few fundamental principles:
- We don’t ask you for personal information unless we truly need it. (We can’t stand services that ask you for things like your gender or income level for no apparent reason.)
- We don’t share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, develop our products, or protect our rights.
- We don’t store personal information on our servers unless required for the on-going operation of one of our services.
- In our blogging products, we aim to make it as simple as possible for you to control what’s visible to the public, seen by search engines, kept private, and permanently deleted.
WHAT INFORMATION DOES THE RECONNECTION COLLECT?
As a general policy, no “Personally Identifiable Information” (as defined below) is automatically collected from your visit to the Website.
Certain non-personal information, however, including the type of browser being used, its operating system and your IP address may be automatically recorded by the standard operation of the Website’s internet servers.
a. Personally Identifiable Information
(i) Contact Information. You may visit and use many features on the Website without completing any user registration. However, in order to purchase products online, register for seminars, conferences or events, or other interactions, we may require you to provide us with certain contact and/or demographic information and/or to become a registered user of the Website. When you become a registered user, we require you to provide us with your contact information (including your name and email address), and may require your date of birth, gender and zip code, as well as other information, in order to create a password. Our goal is to make your experience as easy and enjoyable as possible.
(ii) Financial Information. If you purchase any products on the Website or want to sign up for any seminars or events, you will additionally need to provide us with your credit card and shipping information (for products). Financial information (credit card numbers, credit card expiration dates, billing address, etc.) that is collected is used to bill you for products and services. Financial information is not used for any purpose other than billing.
(iii) The Reconnection collects such personally identifiable information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with the Website. The Reconnection does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain Website-related activities such as the registration of seminars and the purchase of products.
b. Non-Personally Identifiable Information
(i) IP Address. An IP address is a number that’s automatically assigned to your computer whenever you’re surfing the Web. We may retain your IP address in order to help us diagnose problems with our servers, to administer our Website, to help identify you and your shopping cart, to gather broad anonymous demographic information (such as the number of visitors from a geographic area), to enforce compliance with the Website terms and conditions or otherwise in order to protect our services, sites, customers, or others.
(iii) Web Beacons. Pages on our Website also may contain “web beacons” (also known as Internet tags, pixel tags and clear GIFs). Web beacons allow third parties to obtain information such as the IP address of the computer that downloaded the page on which the beacon appears, the URL of the page on which the beacon appears, the time the page containing the beacon was viewed, the type of browser used to view the page, and the information in cookies set by the third party.
All of your Personally Identifiable Information and Non-Personally Identifiable Information, as well as any other information described above may be referred to collectively as the “User Information.”
HOW DOES THE RECONNECTION USE THE INFORMATION IT COLLECTS?
Non-Personally Identifiable Information can be used to help diagnose server problems, administer the Website and generally enhance your online experience. The Reconnection discloses personally-identifying information only to its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on The Reconnection’s behalf and your behalf in connection with products, seminars, events, conferences and other interactions available at the Website, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Some of those employees, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using the Website, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. The Reconnection will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, The Reconnection discloses personally-identifying information only when required to do so by law, or when The Reconnection believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of The Reconnection, its members, employees, managers, third parties or the public at large. If you are a registered user of this Website and have supplied your email address, The Reconnection may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new events, seminars or conferences, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with The Reconnection, our programs and our products. If you send us a request (for example via a support email or via one of our feedback mechanisms), we reserve the right to publish it in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users. The Reconnection takes measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of personally identifying information. If at any time you would rather not receive information from us, or would like to opt-out of any other service we provide, simply follow the steps in the section entitled “How Do You Opt Out Or Change The Information We Have For You?”
In the event we go through a business transition, such as a merger or acquisition by another company, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your Personally Identifiable Information and any information you provide to us will likely be among the assets transferred, and you hereby consent to such transfer.
Unfortunately, when you submit information to us (or to any other website) over the Internet, the information may travel over many networks and systems that are not under our control and, during such time, can be intercepted. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, we can’t ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us and you do so at your own risk. Further, anything you voluntarily provide in any public area of the Internet, including on the Website, will be publicly available to other visitors on that website and potentially to other third parties, and you should always exercise caution when deciding to publicly disclose any of your personal information.
