The weather service had announced a rolling thunderstorm for that afternoon. Having had experienced a relentless downpour the day before, I knew communication via phone and Internet would likely be disrupted so, as I drove to meet with fellow RH practitioners Carmen Irizarry and María López for an RH Jam broadcast, I allowed all possibilities to come into my awareness.
“Should we try to broadcast live?”
“No.”
“Record the program instead then?”
“Yes.”
As I parked my car at the hotel, I could see the gathering clouds in the distance. Built atop a hill, the Mayagüez Resort has a panoramic view of my hometown’s bay, coast and downtown area, and darkness was slowly engulfing all of it as the rain made its way to my location. Yet Mayagüez has famously unpredictable weather and it’s often the case that, while it may be pouring on one side, it may be beach weather in the rest of the city.
The view was magnificent.
“If I shoot here in the parking lot, we’ll get a beautiful backdrop.”
“No.”
“Shoot inside then.”
“Yes.”
A sudden gust of wind reminded me that sound would most certainly be compromised even if I covered the microphones with a windsock. I gathered all my equipment and headed for the safety of indoors.
I had originally envisioned this interview to have a lush, tropical background. It felt appropriate to me to shoot outdoors while in Puerto Rico, so the prospect of having to film inside a hotel was not very inspiring. On the other hand, I did not question changing my plans as resisting or second-guessing anything that came via these frequencies invariably would end with: “I should have listened.”
I wandered up and down the resort trying to locate a spot that would give us the best of all worlds: light, clean sound and, if possible, a natural setting. Surprisingly, a bench on the central corridor by the main entrance marked the spot. As I surveyed the area, it had all the makings of a disaster: it was next to the valet pick up/drop-off, on a connecting walkway between buildings, across from the sundry store and barely covered by a metal awning… If you’ve never experienced a tropical downpour hitting a metal roof, let me just say that it’s as deafening as standing next to a speaker at a rock concert during their pyrotechnic effects.
“This spot?”
“Yes.”
My mind presented me a sequence of everything that might go wrong. While my professional experience was sounding the alarm about everything that would be a possible issue during our recording, my attention remained on the information coming to me via instinct. Through that, it’s always clear sailing.
Despite being aware of this, years of conditioning can be difficult to shake off when presented with situations that bear all the markers of that which has been learned through effort and mistakes, my own and others’. Even as I trusted, I still questioned a few things such as how would the hotel’s personnel receive our unofficial filming since choosing this venue had also been a last-minute thing.
“Don’t I need the hotel’s permission?”
“No.”
“But I should let them know what I’m doing, right?”
“Yes.”
This back and forth with the frequencies is more layered and information-rich than what the yes/no “replies” may imply. The direct questions and affirmatives/negatives stand as the simple, uncomplicated encapsulation of an infinite communication, the continuum of All That Is. In truth, there is no distinction between the question and its answer. There are no words, no images, no sounds, just a knowingness replacing the unknown. Sometimes “yes” and “no” is all I’m ready to understand. Sometimes I can receive much more and I get to witness the invisible becoming visible. We all develop our own unique ways of communicating with this Intelligence via the RH language, and when I’m on a very human doing deadline, the yes and no rapport cuts through whatever my mind might try to conjure up. Ultimately, whether it’s yes/no or the entire cornucopia of potential and possibilities, the information received via the RH frequencies reveals what is and allows us to experience certainty.
I approached the check-in counter and let them know about my plan to film on their premises. They welcomed it without hesitation.
“Please let us know if we are in anyone’s way? We’ll move from that spot.”
With a smile, the desk clerk said:“You won’t be in our way.”
“Thank you!” I replied.
I held her eyes and face a tad longer. Thank you was also shared in frequencies.
My equipment for shooting this interview was simple and easy to carry around: a tablet (in my case, an iPad), a tablet tripod, three lapel microphones, my smartphone and a phone tripod. I finished setting up and waited for my guests to arrive. My plan was just to sit there and take in the space - it’s something I love to do anytime I have a chance, and I still had 30 minutes before their scheduled arrival. Instead, and before I even had a moment to think about it, I started recording myself on the topic we would be discussing: how to return to a child-like state of awe and wonder. People walked by, slowed down and listened-in as I just spoke, as the frequencies guided the words and sentences.
Were they meant to be witnesses to this moment?
Without a doubt!
I knew I was, too.
Carmen and María arrived. If you’ve never experienced the power of an instant amplification and expansion wave of the Reconnective Healing frequencies, I encourage you to get together with other facilitators at a public space: the very fabric of our perceived reality shimmers and undulates, giving away its illusory nature allowing those around you a glimpse of their own true selves, and to receive and experience, even if they don’t cognitively understand yet, the gift RH offers to all of us.
As we sat at our bench sharing our experiences on and off camera, the world around us both ceased to be and, at the same time, became more vivid than it ever is. We keenly experienced not only the immediate but also the eternal, instantaneously, observers of the wave expanding and spreading while knowing ourselves to be the wave itself. All those who walked past us knew something was happening, even if they could not put their finger on it. And whatever it was, it filled most of them with a sense of wonder that showed in their eyes. Most smiled too. When the screaming baby we heard approaching reached our area, she suddenly became quiet as if a switch had been turned off. She strived to take a good look at us from beyond her father’s arms, her eyes as big as saucers, a smile starting to form on her sweet, tear-streaked face. Dad quizzically looked down at his daughter and wondered at what might have caused the sudden peacefulness in her demeanor. His questioning glance quickly turned to gratefulness and relief and he continued walking, his thoughts probably moving to their family plans for the afternoon.
There is immense joy in sharing our RH experiences with those who are in awareness of their presence. When we do so in public spaces, we move past any hang-ups regarding how to speak about RH and the transformation it brings. The Intelligence in these frequencies is always apparent and present to each of us, yet there is something to be said about speaking of It with others. Not only do our own experiences accrue meaning and further clarity from what our fellow facilitators observe, we are also the catalysts for transformation and evolution for everyone around us and the environment itself.
María and Carmen helped me pack my few items and we got ready to part our ways (another illusion we had just discussed and traded stories about as we know that separation is just a perception). As I started to walk away I took a last look at the bench and the area that had served as our gathering spot and knew wonder and gratitude and certainty.
Yes. It had not rained.
